This blog has been all for a class I have been taking in college. I like this class very much and have learned a lot from it. We have learned how to set up a classroom, teach a class full of out of control students, and have created our own units. It has had it's challenging moments, but in the end, I really have taken so much information from this class. It seems like we have just started this semester and already we have 2 and a half weeks until finals begin! It has definitely flown by and I am glad that I have taken the classes that I have. This class in particular has been fun and educational! It has been a great semester!

Post podcasting

We finally did it! We got our story up and running. If you would like to hear it, our link is posted on Blogger. It took a few times, back ground noise, and the teacher talking in the background, but we did it! It was a long process but it was well worth it in the end. I feel like I would easily be able to use this in a classroom in the future. This has been a fun two weeks and I hope that we are able to do it again in the future.

Pre- Podcasting

We JUST decided that we would do a team teaching project. We will both be teaching a lesson on Corduroy. The book is great for younger children that will have high expectations for this book. Today, we are going to podcast the book and hopefully it will go well. We have had some problems with my computer freezing in the middle and we lost our enitre podcast last week because it froze right at the end of us going to publish it. This week it should go better and we will get it up and on the air!

Effective Questions

5 Effective Questions (actually more like 10 questions)

Post-Reading Questions on Corduroy

1.) What was the Bear's name?

2.) What was he missing?/What did he lose?

3.) Did Corduroy climb a mountain?

4.) What was on the next floor?

5.) Did Corduroy find his button on the bed?

6.) Who else was in the store?

7.) Who came to buy Corduroy, Lisa or her mother?

8.) Did Corduroy ever get a new button?

9.) What did Corduroy have at the end of the story?

10.) Who is the story and pictures by?

September 25, 2009 - The End

Today was a little bit different than what has usually happened. Since Antoinette wasn't here, I looked up things for our book like sounds and a picture of the book that we could add to our podcast. I also wrote 5 (actually 10) Effective Questions that will be posted in a separate blog. Today went well. I was surprised that I got this much accomplished.

Reflection

The whole idea of the pod-o-matic concept comes together when the students are able to interact with one another and the teacher. My partner and I do not get to see each other outside of class. I am a commuter at the school and she is a resident. We come up with the ideas during the class period and bring it all together as we go along. Even though it is difficult to brainstorm, create, and publish an "episode" on the pod-o-matic site all within 75 minutes, we get it done.

Today will be a bit of a challenge because my partner is not here today. I will be practicing the reading of our book and having her take a look/listen to it later on. Everything aside though, I am really enjoying the site and I think that this is a great experience for us not only as students, but as future educators that could bring this idea and concept into our own classrooms in the future.

Also, Happy Birthday Antoinette!!

Post-Pod-o-matic

Antoinette and I attempted a few times to record our book. The room was loud and it made it difficult to try and get all of the book read without an interruption from someone behind us or my coughing or laughing at a simple mistake. It will turn out better the next time that we work on it because now we at least have an idea of what we are doing. This is a fun activity and I would much rather be here trying to record a book onto the computer rather than sitting in a classroom being lectured on how to record a book onto a computer. The hands-on approach definitely works with us as college students, so I could definitely see this being a beneficial tool used in the elementary school!
